Photography Student Needing Help
« on: October 11, 2010, 06:12:30 pm »
I am a degree student studying Professional Photography at New College in Swindon. I am new to the area so I don’t have many contacts locally. At the moment I am undertaking a body of work about the community and culture in Swindon, I am very much interested in photographing the real people of Swindon.  I would like to take pictures of people in their home environments. I am interested in documenting any unusual hobbies, activities or societies residents are involved in.  For example, I have photographed a gentleman in his 50’s who collects and paints Airfix models. If you are interested in being involved please reply or contact me by email. The work produced will only be seen by degree tutors and I am more than happy to produce duplicate images for your personal use (45p per photo- to cover developing costs) I work to a high standard and have experience working with payed clients. This is an exciting opportunity for citizens of all ages and walks of life.
Warm Wishes
Rachel Clyburn

Swindon has a good cycling community young and old its called Swindon Mountainbike club, some of em have built custom bikes ,there's a computer museum in the town centre...might be worth talking to him. There was a circus club ( don't know if they're still around) juggling, fire-staff/sword and poi. There's a Mela almost every year (which is normally good) a gay pride event, GWR Kids Fete, Swin City an interesting comic book shop,  there's a huge collection of employment agencies on commercial road, there's an airsoft shop down by the lava lounge, erm.......there's a living statue down by the fountain in the town centre , although I'm not sure what days he is there.......sight 2 sound just a skip from the central library, he has some old cameras and gadgets in his shop. There's a steam museum and a steam club, might be worth speaking to steve wakefield as he might know some people with a couple of historical collections. And that's about all I can think of right now.......

I've given up nude modelling.

Sorry.

... What a loss to the art world when Geoff retired!

I cast things out of metal - that might be quite photogenic, if you're interested

A huge loss.

I'd love to see a portfolio of Swindons councillors aiming to produce various statesmanlike poses but delivering the Haynes manual of gurning instead.

There are very few things sadder/funnier/stranger than watching councillors out 'on a leaflet shoot'....

...Or the people that watch them I suppose. :(

Sorry.

This leads to the obvious question - Why?

We can afford to put the heating on in the PoMo now Geoff; your services, I'm sure, would be greatly appreciated..
