On my Blog http://tinyurl.com/37j4drd reproduced here to extend the opportunity for discussion.

The council's administration is talking of saving millions, and we know that the LibDem Tory coalition has lopped 1.4 Million from the SBC budget, why? What do the LibDem Tory government hope to gain from this move. People deserve to know what the people they voted for are doing to oppose the Libdem Tory coalition cut of £1.4 Million pounds, and how they can be informed of the cuts that are coming the council executive (Cabinet) has a meeting on 22nd September  to discuss the cuts see earlier posts on this blog. Once this has been decided on 22nd the West Swindon public will get their opportunity  to learn about core services and what it means for them. Here is the lastest thoughts on this pressing matter.

How many other clusters are doing this as quoted on my blog:

At the moment the plan is to hold a special meeting of the West Swindon Forum on Tuesday 28 September 2010, 7.00pm in the library.  The purpose of the meeting is to get residents involved in shaping the new Swindon Core Planning Strategy, probably through a facilitated session.   This on the agenda for the meeting on the 13th September, but this will be an introduction and taster as there  not be  enough time to do this justice.  A flyer for the special meeting will be produced that aims to use wording that will be meaningful and hopefully will attract and interest residents. Also Roger Ogle will get the word out via the Link making it a prominent feature.

An opportunity to discuss :smiley6600:

I note that Cllr Roderick Bluh used to regularly criticise the former labour government for 'under-funding' Swindon....

....but hasn't uttered a peep about Eric Pickles £1,400,000 raid on SBC's £6,000,000 reserve fund.  WHy not?

Perhaps Eric Pickles, like a great white shark attracted by a bleeding swimmer, couldn't help but swim in and attack when he saw Cllr Edwards bragging about Swindons 'reserves' in his 2010 budget speech

Quote from: Mark Edwards
"We are maintaining our reserves at £6m instead of £5m to cope with the ongoing impact of the economic downturn"

So, no conservative group criticism of Pickles £1,400,000 grab....and also, (unless I've missed it), no local Liberal Democrat criticism of Pickles £1,400,000 grab.

Are Swindons Liberal Democrats now in coalition with the Roderick Bluh Conservative party?

All in all a classic morality tale (!) of the enhancements party politics bring to the lives of us ordinary folk.

A man in a blue rosette says give us the money, no problem.

A man in a red rosette says give us the money and it's socialist politics of envy.

Sheep.
Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river.
