New Food & Craft Market in Wood Street, Old Town
« on: August 19, 2010, 11:40:23 am »
I think it's going to be a great event for Swindon as well as a good opportunity for businesses in and around Swindon.

NEW FOOD AND CRAFT MARKET IN OLD TOWN WOOD STREET
On Sunday 19 September 2010, Old Town, Swindon, Wiltshire, will be hosting its first monthly food and crafts market. Wood Street will play host to a wonderful market featuring a colourful array of arts, crafts and foods from local producers, an event that is set to make its mark in Swindon’s cultural quarter and the town as a whole.

The market will be open from 10.00am until 4.00pm on the third Sunday of every month; 19th September, 17th October, 21st November - and the festive Christmas market on 19th  December.

Local restaurants, shops, cafes and bars will also be open on market days.

Richard Deacon, Chairman of the Old Town Business and Professional Association said “Some 6,000 people turn up every year for the Old Town Christmas light switch-on and extravaganza.  Providing a quality shopping experience is our utmost priority. As a town we need to support the local businesses with activities that bring people here to see for themselves the town’s wonderful shops, boutiques and eateries.”

Lizzi Vandorpe, local publisher and owner of www.theblessingsbook.com business, said “This is a fantastic opportunity for a business like mine that doesn’t have a permanent retail outlet but does want to connect with the local people.  It is fantastic to have the support of the town in helping businesses like mine trade directly with our customers.”

If you would like a market pitch and stall on any of the Sundays from September until Christmas, call Tony Martin on 07899 005700 or email info@britishfarmersmarkets.co.uk.

If this does well is there any chance of it being extended beyond Christmas? It's a bit unfortunate that it's been scheduled for the same day of the week as the market near the outlet centre.
If something's worth doing it's worth doing in green. komadori's green c

Thanks for letting us know.

We understand that it does conflict with certain events; however, it was the best day that we could arrange, as there is a lot going on in the forthcoming weeks/months.
It will definitely continue past Christmas, and is set to be a success.
