The article is interesting enough but the comments say a lot too. Was anyone there?

One comments finished with this "Then why oh why do SBC feel the need to waste so much of council tax payers money on a scheme that benefits no-one but the directors of stagecoach"

A valid question? Does anyone know if there is a subsidy to Thamesdown Transport Routes? If there is are they all safe for this coming year?  Where does this money for stagecoach come from?

I think the comments on the adver article provide more heat than light.

Despite looking up the area on google maps, I'm still not clear on exactly what is being proposed, or where, or which school some commenters claim would be affected.

According to the article, it's the section of Ermin Street between Hobley Drive/Highworth Road and Swindon Road that's affected. At the moment it's southbound only for buses, and if you zoom in on Google maps you can see that from the road markings. The proposal is to make it two way for buses... like it used to be less than 10 years ago. Indeed, I recall one of the residents mentioned in the article saying, shortly after they moved into their house, how convenient it could be to have a bus stop outside their front door.

The school mentioned is Grange Infants School.

The area in question was modified some years ago to create "a village look" with local shops. The one shop that was there then closed within a short time because of lack of trade.
